An organic chemical in which one or more hydroxyl groups in the benzene ring are substituted with isomers to form a volatile liquid that is used as an industrial disinfectant and in the manufacture of dyes, plastics, and antioxidants. It is toxic and irritant, absorbed through the skin, and can cause death from asphyxiation or neurological, renal, and hepatic damage.
