A form of anchorage used in removable orthodontic appliances. An Adams crib is a retention clasp, designed by C. Philip Adams, used to retain a removable appliance or prosthesis. It functions by engaging the mesial and distal undercuts on the buccal surface of a posterior tooth, usually the upper first molar.

A lingual crib consists of an appliance with a wire framework placed lingually to the maxillary incisor teeth and designed to break habits such as thumb sucking.
