A legendary pre-Christian Irish chieftain as euhemerized in oral tradition from Crom Cruaich. According to the stories, St Patrick overcomes Crom Dubh in evangelizing the island. The defeat of Crom Dubh is commemorated in the naming of Domhnach Chrom Dubh: Crom Dubh's Sunday, another name for Lughnasa, or Garland Sunday, the last Sunday in July or the first Sunday in August.
