(sodium cromoglicate, cromoglycate) n. a drug thought to prevent the release of histamine from mast cells. It is used to prevent asthma attacks and hay fever and to treat other allergic conditions, including allergic conjunctivitis and food allergies. It is administered by inhalation, as a nasal spray, or as eye drops, and may cause local irritation. Trade names: Rynacrom, Vividrin.
