A programme of training designed to prepare expatriate employees for a global assignment. Such training is commonly used by large companies sending employees oversees and is designed to create knowledge and understanding of the host country, facilitate acculturation, and assist expatriates in forming productive working relationships abroad. A cross-cultural training programme can include a didactic element, including lectures, films, and reading about the host country. It is also common to have an experiential element, embracing activities such as role-play, look-see trips, in-country cultural coaching, and language tuition.
