Quick Reference

(1763–1805), English soprano and actress. Crouch made her debut as Mandane in Arne's Artaxerxes in 1780, whilst still articled to Thomas Linley. She appeared regularly at Drury Lane until her retirement in 1801, touring Ireland and the provinces during the summer. Crouch's voice lacked power but was praised for its ‘delicacy and melting softness’. She created several of Stephen Storace's heroines, including the title-role of Lodoiska (1794).
