Also wrote commentary for concert vers. of The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (1946). Trans. many operas. Prod. f.p. of Peter Grimes in London 1945 and in Tanglewood 1946, and of Rape of Lucretia, Glyndebourne 1946. Taught at Britten-Pears Sch., Snape. OBE 1991.
