cryptic behaviour

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A modification of behaviour that makes an animal more difficult for predators to detect. This may involve restricting activity to periods when predators are inactive, for example at night or, if predators are also nocturnal, on moonless nights. Alternatively, prey species may form groups in which individuals are concealed by other individuals and the group is less conspicuous than its members would be if they were isolated.
