Eng. harpsichordist, pianist, conductor, and lecturer. Studied privately with Fanny Waterman and Lamar Crowson and at King's Coll., Cambridge, 1959–63. Frequent broadcasts for BBC as soloist, esp. on historical kbd. instrs. Commissioned works for hpd. by Elizabeth Maconchy, Ronald Stevenson, David Wooldridge, and Phillip Ramey. Recorded extensively with Pro Cantione Antiqua and the Academy of St Martin‐in‐the‐Fields as org. and hpd. player. Cond. Orch. of Opera North in 20th cent. Eng. mus. Has revived solo pf. music by Georgian, Victorian, and later Eng. comps. from Pinto to Rawsthorne.
