Overview

cullin

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A family of proteins (at least eight) involved in cell cycle control that when mutated may contribute to tumour progression. Cullin-1 (cdc53, 776 aa) is part of the SCF ubiquitin protein ligase complex (See skp). Conjugation of nedd8 to cullin-1 renders it unstable. Mutations in cullin-4B (895 aa) are associated with Cabezas' X-linked mental retardation syndrome. Cullin-5 (780 aa) is the arginine vasopressin (AVP)-activated calcium-mobilizing receptor-1 (VACM1), a cell surface protein. The *3M syndrome is caused by mutation in cullin-7 (1698 aa) which is a component of an E3 ubiquitin ligase-complex.
