The maintenance and perpetuation of dominant values, norms, cultural forms, and power relations across generations, that is accomplished though socialization (particularly education) and the processes of naturalization in representation and discourse. The concept was first developed by Bourdieu, who emphasized the structural reproduction of disadvantages and inequalities.
