In a sedimentary rock, bedding which is oblique to the ‘lie’ of the formation as a whole. The structure is not due to tilting or folding, but develops when sandbanks are built up in shallow water, or where sand dunes accumulate from wind-blown sands, where the pattern of bedding reproduces all or part of the outline of the dunes.
