(née Miller, b Ashland, Ohio, 1926; d New York, 4 Oct. 2011)

US dancer, choreographer, teacher, and ballet director. She studied with Humphrey and Limón and joined the latter's company in 1949. She created roles in several Limón works, including There is a Time (1956) and Missa Brevis (1958). She served as Humphrey's assistant (1952–8) and completed Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 after Humphrey's death in 1958. She formed Ruth Currier and Dancers in 1961. After Limón's death in 1972 she was artistic director of his company for five years.
