A requirement that an offender over the age of 16 remains at a specified place at particular times. Curfew orders will no longer be available for offenders aged 16 or 17 once the new provisions in the Criminal Justice Act 2003 are fully in force (probably not before April 2009). The maximum duration of a curfew requirement is six months. The periods of curfew must be specified; they must not be less than two hours or more than 12 hours. A curfew requirement may be imposed as part of a community order or a suspended sentence order.
