A bright region at the cusps of a planet or satellite in crescent phase. The term is usually used in relation to Venus, where bright cusps at one or both poles have often been observed, sometimes bordered by a dark cusp collar. The term ‘cap’ is used by analogy with the polar ice caps of the Earth and Mars.
