Quick Reference

An acronym for cumulative sum, referring to the sum of a series of measurements. This is used to demonstrate a change in trend or direction of a series of measurements over time. To calculate the CUSUM, a reference figure such as the expected average measurement is selected, then, as each new measurement becomes available, the reference figure is subtracted from it, and a cumulative total is produced by adding each successive difference.
