Quick Reference

The notion, found in early Kabbalistic works, that history proceeds in series of thousands of years. The doctrine runs that our world will last for 6,000 years after which there will be a ‘Sabbath’ of 1,000 years. After this, the cycle will begin afresh and continue until 49,000 years have elapsed, after which there will be a great Jubilee of 1,000 years. In some versions, after the great Jubilee, the whole process will begin once again.
