(cdks)

A family of serine/threonine kinases that are only active in a complex with a cyclin and are involved in regulation of the cell cycle. The cyclin–cdk complexes are themselves regulated by phosphorylation by cdk-activating kinase. Cdk9 is atypical (see cyclins (cyclin-T1)).
