Sufi order founded in Egypt by Ibrahim ibn Abi al-Majd al-Dasuqi (d. 1288). Also known as Ibrahimi tariqah until the sixteenth century or Burhani or Burhami tariqah. Spread to Syria, Hijaz, Yemen, and Hadramawt. Focused on need for inner purity and self-denial. Emphasized adherence to shariah in one's heart and actions, rather than just through words, wearing Sufi garments, or living in a zawiyah. Celebrated three mawlids annually.
