A form of data warehouse which addresses one specific requirement of an enterprise; this is in contrast to a data warehouse which stores all the data pertinent to an enterprise's effective functioning. An example of a data mart might be a set of databases which store data only on past sales. Often data marts extract their data from an enterprise's data warehouse.
