A well-characterized and established B lymphoblast cell line, derived in 1967 from a 16-year-old black male with Burkitt's lymphoma. The cells have surface complement receptors and IgG and are EBV marker positive, but negative for β2-microglobulin. They have been employed extensively in studies of mechanisms of leukaemogenesis.
