Sufi zawiyah founded in Damascus by Hanbali jurist Abu Bakr ibn Daud in the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. Developed by his son, Abd al-Rahman. First zawiyah in Damascus of the Qadiri order. Functioned as pious meeting place. Contained waterwheel, well, grotto, mosque, library, and quarters for both men and women.
