Advised Mendelssohn on technicalities for his vn. conc. and was soloist at f.p. (Leipzig, 13 March 1845). Taught Joachim and Wilhelmj. Took up cond. in last decade of his life. Wrote opera (withdrawn), 5 vn. concs., str. qt., and songs.
