Quick Reference
A hospital, or a designated portion of a hospital, where people receive care during part or all of the day and go home at the end of the day. The care may be medical, surgical, psychiatric, supportive-social, or any combination of these. A day hospital is not the same as an outpatient or ambulatory care department of a hospital because it is specialized, not episodic, usually one-time-only, although sometimes provided on a recurring basis.
Subjects: Public Health and Epidemiology.
