Ballet in one act with choreography and costumes by A. Howard and music by Schubert. Premiered 23 Feb. 1937 by Ballet Rambert at the Duchess Theatre, London, with Howard. It is set to the Andante con moto from Schubert's String Quartet in D minor and portrays a young girl being overcome by Death. It was revived by Ballet Theatre in 1940 and Northern Dance Theatre in 1969. Other choreographers who have used Schubert's quartet include Walter (Wuppertal, 1964), R. North (Ballet Rambert, 1984), and Elo (Norwegian Ballet, 2008).
