French dancer, choreographer, and director. He danced with the companies of Régine Chopinot, Karole Armitage, and Nikolais and in 1983 founded his company, DCA. His work creates arresting stage images and optical illusions out of dance, video imagery, lighting effects, mirrors, stage machinery, and elaborate costumes, and his productions include Codex (1986), Petites pièces montées (1993), Decodex (1995), Shazam (1998), Tricodex (2003, for Lyon Opera Ballet), and Sombrero (2007). He has also directed the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1992 Winter Olympics, the 2007 Rugby World Cup parade in Paris, and the Japanese musical DORA, the cat who lived a million times (1996) as well as directing several short films and commercials.
