A superfamily of RNases and DNases with four conserved acidic residues, DEDD, responsible for binding two metal ions involved in catalysis. The DEDD superfamily can be divided into two subgroups, DEDDY and DEDDH, according to whether a fifth conserved residue is tyrosine (Y) or histidine (H).
