Any computational method used in signal processing to correct in part for the broadening or blurring effect of an instrument or the atmosphere. Deconvolution methods are used extensively in aperture synthesis to reduce the distorting effects of the telescope beam pattern. See Clean; Maximum-Entropy Method.
