Quick Reference

A family of small proteins (57–60 aa) isolated from various Dendroaspis (mamba) venoms that are selective blockers of voltage-gated potassium channels in a variety of tissues and cell types. They have sequence similarity with Kunitz-type serine peptidase inhibitors. The kalicludine toxins from the sea anemone Anemonia sulcata are structurally homologous to the dendrotoxins.
