Denhardt solution

A solution consisting of Ficoll, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and bovine serum albumin, each at a concentration of 0.02% (w/v). Preincubation of nucleic acid–containing filters in this solution prevents nonspecific binding of single- stranded DNA probes. The solution is named after David T. Denhardt who formulated it in 1966.
