South African-British dancer. She studied at the Royal Ballet School and made her debut with the company in 1962. After a year with the Berlin Opera Berlin (1966–7) she returned and was promoted soloist in 1968 and principal in 1972. She was a favourite dancer of MacMillan and created roles in several of his ballets including Anastasia (extended version, 1971), Manon and Elite Syncopations (1974), and Four Seasons (1975) as well as Ashton's The Dream (1964) and Jazz Calendar (1968).
