born in Co. Limerick, the son of Sir Aubrey de Vere (1788–1846, himself a poet), came early under the influence of Wordsworth and Coleridge. His voluminous works include The Waldenses, or the Fall of Rora, with Other Poems (1842); English Misrule and Irish Misdeeds (1848), which displays Irish sympathies; and Recollections (1897).
