Quick Reference

A coloured bow, analogous to a rainbow, observed on a dew-covered surface. The optical causes are as the same as those in a rainbow, but because the dewdrops are located on a more or less horizontal plane, a dewbow generally appears as an ellipse or hyperbola. Similar bows have been reported from water droplets lying on the surface film of a pond.
