Quick Reference

Among Cotton’s circle of antiquaries, he collected books, MSS, and charters concerned with English legal and parliamentary history. In 1705, his library was sold to R. Harley through Wanley’s agency. The printed books were dispersed in 1743–5, but the MSS remain in the British Library as part of the Harleian collection.
