Quick Reference

An exosome released by a dendritic cell. A small heat-stable membrane-bounded vesicle ~60–90 nm in diameter. A characteristic set of proteins are present, including tetraspanins such as CD9 and CD81, all the known antigen presenting molecules (MHC class I and II, CD1 a, b, c, and d) and the costimulatory molecule CD86. Dexosomes transfer antigen-loaded MHC class I and II molecules to naive dendritic cells.
