In the Mahābhārata the brother of Draupadī, who after the death of his father Drupada at the hands of Droṇa, becomes the king of the Pāñcālas, and their commander in the war against the Kauravas. He revenges himself on Droṇa and is, in his turn, trampled to death in a demeaning way by Droṇa's son, Aśvatthāman. See also Mahābhārata.
