Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A test whose purpose is to evaluate a learner's strengths and areas for development. It is not a test in the sense of a formative or summative assessment of the learner's attainment, but rather a means of discovering what level of support or challenge the learner will need. A diagnostic test is often a first step in developing an individual learning plan. It is usually carried out when the learner enters their course of study, and its results are sometimes referred to as the learner's ‘entry behaviour’, or starting point.
