Of or relating to the simultaneous presentation of a different auditory message to each ear via earphones, a task used to study attention and laterality of functions, based on the fact that the nerve fibres that carry auditory signals from each ear are almost entirely crossed to the auditory cortex of the opposite cerebral hemisphere.
