Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Weight reducing diet originally proposed in 1972; a ketogenic diet (see diet, ketogenic) in which carbohydrate intake is severely limited but fat and protein are permitted in unlimited amounts. It is effective for weight loss, since ketonaemia reduces appetite, and protein appears to reduce appetite, but it runs counter to modern advice on a prudent diet.
