An algorithm which is used in the US government's Digital Signature Standard. When applied to a message it generates two integers which need to be compared by the recipient of a message which has been signed using this technique. It is often referred to by its abbreviation: DSA. The algorithm can only be used for digital signatures, not for the transmission of data.
