The digestive system consists of a complex tube which extends from the mouth to anus and is linked to several specialized glands and organs. Digestive disorders afflict nearly everyone at some time. The most common include constipation, diarrhoea, diverticulosis, food poisoning, haemorrhoids, heartburn, and irritable bowel syndrome (see separate entries).
