(DED)

is a statutory requirement placed on public authorities in England, Scotland, and Wales in 2006 to ensure disabled people are treated fairly and to find ways of promoting disability equality. In addition to this general duty, there are specific duties which require public authorities to: publish a Disability Equality Scheme (including within it an Action Plan), involve disabled people in producing the Scheme and Action Plan, demonstrate they have taken actions in the Scheme and achieved appropriate outcomes, report on progress, and review and revise the Scheme.
