Quick Reference

These regulations form part of the six pack of health and safety regulations adopted by the UK Government in 1992 to implement the European Framework Directive on Health and Safety at Work. They came into effect on 1 January 1993 and are designed to reduce damage to eyesight and injuries to arms and necks resulting from excessive use of computer equipment and workstations with poor ergonomic design. They require that all workstations are assessed for risk, training is provided and that there are regular rest breaks and eye tests.
