Quick Reference

A family of proteins that are homologues of the Drosophila ‘discs large’ tumour suppressor protein, Dlg, the prototype of the MAGUKs. DLG1 (Discs large homologue-1, synapse-associated protein 97, SAP-97, 904 aa) is a multidomain scaffolding protein that recruits channels, receptors, and signalling molecules to discrete plasma membrane domains, regulates the excitability of cardiac myocytes by modulating the functional expression of Kv4 potassium channels, and functionally regulates the Kv1.5 channel. Several other human DLG proteins are known.
