(1750–1811), dramatist and politician; born in Lisburn, Co. Antrim, and educated at TCD, where he wrote the verse tragedy, The Patriot King, or the Irish Chief (1773). A Summary of Universal History (9 vols., 1800), sets out his interpretation of scriptural prophecy. Other works include Modern Matrimony (1773), a longer poem, and Poems (1788).
