Quick Reference

A part or region of a molecule or structure that has particular physicochemical features or properties, e.g. hydrophobic, polar, globular, α-helical domains, DNA-binding domain, ATP-binding domain. A range of domains are recognized on the basis of their sequence and their presence can be a helpful indicators of the likely function or location of a molecule.
