Quick Reference

Son of Míl Espáine whose identity has become intertwined with that of Donn (1), god of the dead. As a brother of Éber Finn [Fair Éber] in the Lebor Gabála [Book of Invasions], he is sometimes known as Éber Donn [Dark or Brown Éber]. A malevolent and envious figure, he drowns, victimized by his own anger, just as the Milesian invasion takes place and thus is denied participation in the conquest he lusts for. Sometimes another of Míl's sons, Erannán, is described as being the first to die.
