A genus of 2 species, endemic (see endemism) to Australia. D. sassafras (Australian or New South Wales sassafras) is a tall tree, up to 30 m, with elliptical leaves up to 7 cm long and toothed. The tree produces white flowers in winter. Both the bark and leaves are fragrant, and provide aromatic oils used in perfume.
