South African dancer and ballet master. He studied with Dulcie Howes, danced with University Ballet of Cape Town, and joined Sadler's Wells Ballet in 1951, becoming soloist in 1953. He created roles in several ballets including Ashton's Jazz Calendar (1968) and Enigma Variations (1968), Cranko's Lady and the Fool (1955), and MacMillan's The Invitation (1960) and Romeo and Juliet (1965). He was ballet master of the Royal Ballet (1970–5).
