A genus of big trees in which the leaves are pinnate and the flowers pentamerous. The fruit is a drupe with edible, fleshy pulp and a flattened, angular stone with 1 or 2 seeds. Several species yield attractively coloured, valuable timber. There are 8 species, occurring in rain forests from Indo-Malaysia to Fiji.
